Uniform Division
The Oxford Police Departments Uniform Division is the largest division in the police department and provides an array of services to our citizens. The Uniform Division takes pride in the day to day activities it performs, and insuring that our citizens are afforded the "protection and service" they deserve.
When a crime is committed, patrol officers are the first to respond to the scene and often arrest suspects as they attempt to flee.
The officers of the Uniform Division respond to all types of calls, from parking complaints to homicides. When not answering calls for service, officers are responsible for self-initiated activity in either enforcing our laws or preventing crime through their interaction with the public.
Patrol officers conduct preliminary investigations and render assistance to crime victims, accident victims and others. Every Oxford Police Officer begins their career as a Patrol Officer. Patrol Officers are in constant contact with the public, uniformed police officer are responsible for providing the round-the-clock "first responder" capability of the Police Department. Many of these officers work nights, weekends, and holidays, in good weather and in bad. Most likely, the first person you will see when you call the police will be a uniformed patrol officer.
